Note for people actively looking for link partners - I have recently come accross a rather nasty practice when visiting sites looking for suitable link exchange opportunities. I like to show the potential exchange site that I have visited and checked out their site prior to making first contact by using the contact form on the site rather than send and email which could be construed as spamming. But - untill recently I was completely unaware that many of these approaches are being block by the web designers/web masters. Often the form does not send the message to the site owner but to the web designer/master. Now most designers and masters are good people who pass messages on or, contact you if they think the exchange would be a good thing for their clients, after all links are a rather handy think to have on a site especially for small site owners. But we are now seeing a class of so call web designers and masters who do not want their clients to have links on their site even though the sites have a links page on them. (That would rather suggest that the site owners were interested in having link exchanges when they commissioned their sites). Often the pages are empty or only have one or two links on them. The one thing these web sites have in common is the fact that their sites are made from templates with the variation being the top picture graphic and the colour scheme. You check this out for yourself by going to the bottom of the page and clicking the link to the design company - then examine their portfolio/client list pages and you will see what I mean. You could of course put in a search for 'Web designers dogs' or 'Web designers horses' or whatever you prefer and here you will get a list of designers who specialise in one area of design work. The single subject designer is the area where this problem is most prevalent. Of course these designers like to place a link to their own sites on every page of the client's site. (They do indeed know the true value of links). It would appear that these web masters are in charge of site maintence etc paid for by their clients - but methinks they do not wish to do any work ie - make the site collect the money and do as little as possible. And of course you can make a whole lot more money charging clients SEO placement fees. It is very obvious that no real site maintenence is being done by these people. We are in the days of the wider veiwing screens - so why are these sites stuck in the small panel in the center of a screen with more blank area than site page area. Answer is simple these people working from templates do not have the knowledge or the skills. They are making Sites by Numbers. As any good and honest web designer will tell you It does not take much effort to go in and change the CSS style sheet to give full page viewing on any screen size. And for small sites without CSS sheets it take a few minutes per page. This of course is the difference between a quality design consultant/designer and an opportunistic "we found an easy way to do it" approach designer. So if you wish to contact these site owners it would be a good idea to contact them using their Email addresses making sure that you include something about their site to show that you have indeed visited the site We have recently had a complete overhaul of this page and links were removed if we could not find the reciprecating link. If your link has been inadvertently removed please let us know and we will put it back up on this page.
